Penrith the market town for the northern lakes is 10 minutes by car, where you will find all you need from speciality shops to major businesses.   Carlisle with its excellent shopping, museum (www.tulliehouse.co.uk), theatre (www.thesandscentre.co.uk) and imposing Castle is 25 minutes away.

Pottery Cottage is in the heart of the village with walks from the door, the Dog and Gun pub which has excellent food and good beer, picturesque St Michael's Church, tennis court (May - September) and two children’s play areas. A recently open footpath leads from the village church to Upfront gallery with its excellent tea rooms.
